I learned from a young age I was not able to eat bananas. Whenever I ate one, I ended up experiencing the feeling of a million tiny papercuts on the roof of my mouth.
That didn’t stop me from eating them for several years, until one day my healthy truly started to suffer from the effects they were having on my body. Severe bloating, constipation, yeast infections, sluggishness, decaying teeth, sugar cravings, and more.
Since removing this fruit from my diet, all of these symptoms have disappeared and I have since been eating a nutrient dense plant-rich diet mainly constituting of fresh vegetables and low sugar fruits.
Because I had to stop eating bananas, for awhile I too had to stop eating smoothies. This was, of course, devastating for me.
I went several months without a single smoothie after previously having potentially up to 3 in a day.
Now, I have worked up the courage and inspiration to start creating smoothies without bananas and I am pleasantly surprised by the results.
They aren’t as sweet and often have a slightly different consistency than they would with bananas, but they are still smooth, creamy, and absolutely delicious to the tastebuds. I almost like them more without the banana overpowering the other flavors!
Below is my favorite recipe thus far. ♡
1 Cup Blueberries, frozen
1/2 ish Cup Cherries, frozen
3 Small Cauliflower Florets, frozen
1/4 Cup GF Oats
3 Leaves Kale
1 Scoop Vanilla Protein Powder
1 Tbsp Cocoa
Topped with dried Wild Blueberries, Pumpkin Seeds, and Coconut Cult Original Coconut Yogurt.
